For my first blog post, I have decided to write a little bit about my logo; why I chose it and the meaning behind it.
Why the lotus flower?
Yes, I think the lotus flower is very pretty but there is WAY more to it! In many different cultures, the lotus flower symbolizes purity, enlightenment, self-regeneration, and rebirth.
The lotus flower grows in the dirty, muddy water and out of sunlight.
Eventually, the hidden flower pushes through the muddy water and flourishes into a gorgeous flower for all to see.
According to Buddhism, every person has the ability and power to reach their highest potential and be perfect, even if that means being reincarnated thousands and thousands of times. Eventually, we will all reach ‘nirvana’, the highest state of consciousness.
Just like the lotus flower, some of us grow deep in the mud.
Whatever it may be, every single one of us has our own unique struggles that we must prevail. We must push out of that sticky, dirty "mud" that tries to push us down, to swallow us and to entrap us. It may take courage, strength, and endurance to keep going and push through, but the outcome will be a gorgeous, strong, and powerful person.
“As a lotus flower is born in water, grows in water and rises out of water to stand above it unsoiled, so I, born in the world, raised in the world having overcome the world, live unsoiled by the world" - Buddha
The next time you are struggling or in pain of any kind, try to imagine the lotus flower.
Visualize the beginning stages of the lotus flower – a flower that has such potential to be magnificent; yet, hidden from the world.
Visualize the little bud surpassing and physically pushing through that layer of dirt - physically pushing through the pain, the anguish, the stress, the anxiety, the suffering, the loss, the frustration - eventually reaching the warming and enveloping sunlight.
Visualize bursting out of the mud and that first feeling of warm sun engulfing our bodies. It will be hard work but so rewarding! If a gentle flower can do it, so can you!
If you made it this far, thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed and got a better understanding behind my logo and practice.
